~About Mrs. Watt~
Some people spend many years of their lives finding a career that they can enjoy. I feel very lucky that I realized my calling to be a teacher at a very young age. With both parents living out their dreams as teachers here in Clay County, I was easily inspired. I can remember eating dinner with my family and listening to them tell stories from their classrooms. It was clear that they were in love with what they did each day. By the time I graduated high school, I knew that I, too, would be a teacher. Today, my mother teaches Gifted Math at Orange Park Junior High while my father enjoys retirement after teaching 37 years in Clay schools.
After graduating from Orange Park High, I spent one year at Flagler College in St. Augustine. Looking for a bigger college, I transferred to Florida State in Tallahassee. I could not be more proud to be a Seminole!!! GO FSU! While a student at FSU I worked in the Bureaus of Educator Certification and Educational Technology at the Florida Department of Education. This was an outstanding experience that gave me a lot of insight into Florida's educational system. I graduated with honors from FSU in 2002 with a degree in Social Science Education. Soon thereafter I found a job teaching World Geography and Multicultural Studies at Lakeside Junior High. I was a teacher there for three years before making my home here as a Tiger teacher in 2005. In 2008 I became a National Board Certified Teacher. In January of 2013 I was proud to represent LAJH as a finalist for Clay County's Teacher of the Year. This is my 12th year teaching.
Teaching is only one of my loves. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my wonderful husband (and fellow 'Nole) Andrew. We have two children, Aidan (3.5 years old) and Brooklyn (1 year old ). They are the absolute light of our lives.
I also enjoy spending time with friends, running, cooking, traveling, reading and shopping.
